Why Plastic Straws Suck

Most people are unaware of the significant impact plastic straws have on our oceans and marine life. Statistics indicate that over 500 million plastic straws are used daily, averaging 1.6 straws per person each day. By 2050, it's predicted that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean, with plastic straws being a major contributor. A single plastic straw can take 500 years to decompose, releasing harmful chemicals into the soil and water during that time.

Fortunately, many large companies are leading the way by eliminating plastic straws from their products and adopting more eco-friendly alternatives like paper straws. While paper straws still end up in landfills, they are biodegradable and, therefore, less harmful to the environment.

Although plastic straws are a common part of daily life, we can choose to stop contributing to the problem. Stainless steel straws are a great alternative. They are reusable, long-lasting, rust-free, easy to clean, and an affordable replacement for plastic straws.
